My name is Jessica Salamanca. I can cry on command. I’m ethnically ambiguous. I did improv once. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley.
I really want to be in your movie.
I’m based in the Valley, most likely watching a Paul Thomas Anderson movie.
After graduating with a double major in geography and political science, I spent several years trying to convince myself I could be a teacher. Over time, I realized I cried a lot trying to be a teacher and now I work in marketing. But I really want to be in the Paul Thomas Anderson movie.
Do I have acting experience?
I made a short during quarantine sitting in my kitchen and using Google Meet. I was the female lead in the 2019 short film Cross Doubles. Cross Doubles won Best Sci-Fi Film at the Anaheim Film Festival, and screened at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, New Jersey Horror Con, Zed Fest, and Another Hole in The Head.
Are you trained?
I take scene study at The Acting Center. I took two acting classes with Ptolemy Slocum (Westworld, Hitched) at The Nerdist School. I’ve taken improv classes at The Groundlings, Second City Hollywood, and UCB LA. I used to stand in front of teenagers and try to keep their interest about the Battle of Midway.
So… what are you?
Nicaraguan-American, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley.
During quarantine I’ve run a half-marathon, made a music video to “Monkey Business” by Pet Shop Boys, and have watched Rick Steve’s Europe during dinner each night.
I guarantee an Academy-Award winning performance. The Golden Globe is sealed. The Critic’s Choice Award doesn’t stand a chance.
Photography by me. I take photos too. Maybe not good ones, but I take them.
